Naama is our Director of Learning. She has trained thousands of teachers, facilitators, and leaders both domestically and internationally, focusing on creating impactful learning experiences for PK-12 and adult learners. 

Her professional experience includes 10 years teaching teachers at Relay Graduate School of Education, where she also served as Director of Residency and Assistant Dean of the New York Campus.

Prior to Relay, Naama taught with DC Public Schools and with Uncommon Schools in Brooklyn. She is passionate about building and sustaining innovative pipelines into the teaching profession, and about creating meaningful ongoing learning opportunities.

Naama lives in New York with her husband and two daughters, and in her free time enjoys the great outdoors and reading stories with her kids.

All kids deserve to find their spark! Cristian has dedicated his work to this idea: each kid has a spark waiting to be ignited by the right teacher-leaders. Having trained over 500 teacher-leaders, Cristian believes strongly in the power of effective teachers.

Before TeachStart, Cristian led the strategy for Alumni Leadership with Teach For America Los Angeles, managing leadership boards, teacher fellowships, and pipelines for effective teacher-leadership practices. He was also previously the Director of Special Education where he coached and led cohorts of new teachers on effective strategies for our diverse learners.

Cristian lives in the Inland Empire outside of LA and enjoys time with his partner and daughter, Luna.

Julia Dezen

Julia Dezen (she/her) is a course designer and facilitator with TeachStart and Scoot with a background in K-12 mathematics and special education. She works at SchoolKit as a math specialist dedicated to disrupting the exclusionary culture of mathematics through her work with teachers, leaders, and communities.

She is the former Senior Director of Special Projects for SELF (Special Education Leader Fellowship) and Director of Mathematics at Instruction Partners. Julia was also a facilitator for UnboundEd’s Standards Institute, a representative on Louisiana’s Believe and Prepare Math Collaborative, a former Teaching Ambassador Fellow with the US Department of Education under Secretary Arne Duncan and Secretary John King, and an educator representative for the National Center of Education Statistics.

Julia resides in New Orleans, Louisiana where you can find her playing games with friends, reading a book by the bayou, or planning her next travel adventure.
