At Scoot, our substitute teachers believe in the value of an exceptional education. We have a thorough hiring process and we pride ourselves in providing market-leading pay and W-2 employment.
Scoot substitute teachers bring a high level of competency, aptitude for common sense, and professional attitude to the classroom.
They understand the complexities associated with filling in for the day and take great pride in providing a consistent, valuable day of learning when the regular teacher is away.
They are professional (especially in high-stress situations), reliable, flexible, and eager to quickly build rapport with students, staff, and the school community.
Above all, our substitute teachers understand that they are an extension of Scoot and strive to represent Scoot with the utmost integrity knowing they are part of an elite group of educators.

Phone Interview
We’ll reach out to you and ask you a few questions regarding your application, background, and desire to work with Scoot.
This is just a quick 10-15 minute call.
In-person interview
During the interview, we’ll ask you about your teaching style and assess your classroom management skills. We’ll get to know your unique needs and geographical preferences. We’re interested in learning about you, as a person, and not just the substitute!
Expect your interview to be both professional and fun 🙂
If all goes well, you’ll be offered the position and we’ll begin the on-boarding process of welcoming you as a Scoot Substitute!
To expedite the hiring process, we’ve compiled a list of documents to have ready for your in-person interview. Please note that our requirements may be different based on the location you are looking to work in.
